If you are planning to fly into the San Carlos (KSQL) during the week of Superbowl 50 (SB50), please read the following information to familiarize yourself with the following information prior to departing or arriving these airports.
 
Fees & Services
 
Transient parking is available on a first come, first serve basis.  
 
Overnight parking of vehicles without a permit is prohibited at both airports.  Vehicles without a permit may be ticketed and/or towed at owner expense.  We suggest you utilize the following companies to avoid the cost and inconvenience of fines and vehicle removal:

  • Enterprise – 650-622-0000
  • Caltrain-  Rail service to San Jose and San Francisco.  Station located approximately 1 mile from Airport.   
  • Numerous taxicab companies are available for transportation needs
 
Aircraft Arrival and Departure Information
 
During the week of the SB50, KSQL IFR Operations will require advanced reservation and coordination.  More information can be found at fly2sb50.org
 
IFR Arrivals and Departures
 
Beginning Thursday February 4th and through Monday February 8th, KSQL will have two IFR arrival slots per hour and two IFR departure reservations available per hour. If you are interested in obtaining a reservation, please contact the San Carlos Airport at 650-573-3700.  These reservations are available on first come, first serve basis.  IFR flight plans should be filed no sooner than eight (8) hours prior to departure.
 
VFR Arrivals and Departures
 
VFR traffic does not require a reservation however ATC services will be on a workload permitting basis.  You can likely expect ATC delays when attempting to depart VFR. 
 
Additional Arrival and Departure Information
 
The FAA will be implementing several traffic management initiatives during the week of SB50.  No airborne filing or airborne issuance of IFR clearances will be permitted within 200 nautical miles of Norcal Terminal Airspace.  The filing of multiple/duplicate flight plans will be removed from the FAA’s system.
 
The FAA may institute several other restrictions during the week of SB50 on an as needed basis.  These may include but are not limited to the prohibition of touch and goes, practice approaches and prohibition of flight training and other operations.  KSQL control tower may initiate local traffic management initiatives.

Taxi & Limo Information
 
No vehicles (including rental cars of transient pilots) will be permitted on the airside of the Airport.  Taxi and Limos must conduct pick up and drop offs at the KSQL terminal building located at 620 Airport Way, San Carlos, CA.  Taxi & Limo drivers must utilize vehicle parking spaces.  Staging of vehicles not located in parking spaces is prohibited.
