The San Carlos and Half Moon Bay Airports are surrounded by noise-sensitive areas. The Voluntary Noise Abatement Procedures were developed with input and assistance from the San Carlos and Half Moon Bay Airport pilot associations, Airport business association, local community groups, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). While the FAA is the sole agency with authority over aircraft in flight, the County Board of Supervisors adopted a comprehensive Fly-Friendly Program for our Airports that includes wide-ranging outreach and Voluntary Noise Abatement Procedures to minimize noise impacts for our neighbors whenever possible.
